Alpaca Love

Alpacas are one of the most gentle, calm animals you can find. When you walk into the barn, they all make you feel welcome by stopping in their tracks and looking at you. We always have to have our alpaca fix every day. We really enjoy working with them, most of the time. Poop duty is never a real pleasure other than the fantastic fertilizer it makes. Did you know that alpaca poop is naturally PH balanced and some of the best fertilizer there is? You can put it on plants and it won't burn. The greenest part of the pasture is around the poop piles. Yes, for the most part, they poop in certain piles. Once in a while you have an alpaca that didn't read the book and they poop where ever they please. We usually try to sell these animals asap. We have fun watching them run up and down a steep hill in our pastures. We have been spit on more times than we care to think about in our 7 years of being in the alpaca business. They only spit if they feel threatened, such as when you give meds or are treating them for some ailment. We welcome questions and visits on our farm located in Vermilion, OH.
